Policing Black Lives in Notts is coordinated by Bright Ideas Nottingham and funded by National Lottery Community Awards.
The aim of the project is to investigate the nature and impact of policing black people in Nottinghamshire and how we can better respond to incidents involving them. We are doing this by collecting community accounts throughout our research on the project.
The outcome of Policing Black Lives in Notts will be to provide the resource of information materials, including the community accounts and online resources, to share strategies that the black community can use in their dealings with the police.
Towards the end of the project we will be holding an event for the black community. At this event we will be able to share our findings and recommendations whilst disseminating our information materials and resources from the project. We will also encourage community members to think about what other work can be produced out of this project (e.g. a police monitoring group, a book).
This project is not aimed at Nottinghamshire Police nor the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner. It is solely for the benefit of our communities and we believe that people outside of the black community will also benefit from the work.
